Fidel Gastro’s Matt Basile is getting set to release a new Brunch Life cookbook in Fall 2018 and U-Feasters got the very first taste of what’s slated for its pages.
We love scrolling through the Fidel Gastro’s Instagram account on Sundays, drooling over his brunch photos, but we so often can’t drag our lazy butts to Lisa Marie on time to satisfy our cravings. This past Sunday, however, U-Feast teamed up with “the King” himself, Matt Basile, for a Brunch for Dinner experience – and almost everyone was on time!
Matt gave us a sneak preview of his Brunch Life cookbook, set to be released next year by Penguin Canada. The book will be a mix of travel and recipes, and will explore how brunch has become a part of our cultural fabric. There are chapters devoted entirely to fried chicken and waffles and eggs benedict along with many other tasty nuggets to brighten up any brunch.
We packed Lisa Marie with over 50 U-Feasters, we swigged superb cocktails courtesty of Tequila Tromba (Toronto’s first locally owned Tequila), the food (as always) was incredible and very plentiful and we capped off the evening with a pick me up by Station Cold Brew.
If these pics and the promise of an impending cookbook by the Toronto street food king himself have got you yearning for brunch right about now, fear not – our next brunch will be at Los Colibris with chef Elia Herrera on March 16th. Chef Elia was born in Veracruz, Mexico and will be competing in Top Chef Mexico, and has come together alongside Daura Damm (the world’s most award winning gluten free beer), to create a killer Mexican brunch that’s both delicious and gluten friendly!
